Curriculum


The school provides the following programmes of education for its students:
The Junior Certificate
Transition Year Programme (new for September 2017)
The Leaving Certificate (established)
The Leaving Certificate Vocational Preparation Programme (LCVP)

1st Year – Junior Certificate

All students study the following subjects to examination level:
  • Irish
  • English
  • Maths
  • History
  • Geography
  • Civic, Social & Political Education (CSPE)
  • Religious Education
  • French
  • German 
  • Science
  • Business Studies
  • Home Economics
  • Music
  • Technology
  • Technical Graphics
  • Art 
The following non-examination subjects are also taken by students:
  • Physical Education
  • Social, Personal & Health Education (SPHE)

2nd & 3rd Years – Junior Certificate

The following examination subjects are studied by all students:
  • Irish
  • English
  • Maths
  • History
  • Geography
  • Science
  • Civic, Social & Political Education (CSPE)
  • Religious Education
  Additionally, students take any three of the following subjects to examination level:
         French, German, Business, Art, Home Economics, Music, Technology, Technical Graphics

The following non-examination subjects are also taken:
  • Physical Education
  • Social, Personal & Health Education (SPHE)

4th & 5th Years – Leaving Certificate

All students take the following subjects to examination level:
  • Irish
  • English
  • Maths
They then select four of the following subjects:
Accounting, Agricultural Science, Applied Maths, Art, Biology, Business, Chemistry, French, Geography, German, History, Home Economics, Music , Physics, and  Religious Education.

In 4th and 5th year, students also study the following non – examination subjects:
  • Religious Education
  • Physical Education
  • Guidance
The Leaving Certificate Vocational Preparation Programme (LCVP) is now offered to all 4th and 5th Year students with the appropriate subject combinations.
