Eoin Sheridan works towards the World Youth Olympics in China this August

Eoin Sheridan has worked diligently and tirelessly on his skills and talents in the field of athletics. This 4th year student can be found most evenings in the training field of Castlepollard GAA grounds, practising his discus throw with coach Peter Collins, father of Paul Collins who is also known for his strength in discuss throwing.

This June Bank holiday, Eoin will travel to Baku in Azerbaijan with 16 others to compete. He has already qualified earlier this Spring, throwing a new National Youth discuss record of 56.38  metres, when the standard was 51.25! This quantifies the excitement and hope that surrounds this North Westmeath athletics star.

If Eoin finishes in the top 6 in his category in Baku, it is then that he will qualify for the World Youth Olympics at he end of August.

Without doubt, Eoin is and will become a high achiever. It is difficult for many to comprehend the hours of training, throwing, weight lifting, nutrition and phsycological mind games that Eoin must endure to achieve at this level. Well done on your achievements so far and we look forward to reading about your summer results in September!
